The Sonnet The first two lines are not so very hard: Fit them into ten sylables, that's fine. You shuffle the words like a pack of cards, Untill they're right, not too many, not nine... Now comes line three, which must rhyme with the first, And you find you have something like 'romance'; And after you've sweated and fumed and cursed, You can't find a better rhyme than 'omens'! So you fiddle the words around again, Redo the first and third lines to rhyme. By the verse's end you're racking your brain, And there's still ten more lines to fill your time. Yes, writing a sonnet is hard as hell - I wonder how William did them so well! (c) Copyright Hespa.
